Making Your Smile Gorgeous

A few years ago, I started thinking carefully about what I could do to improve my smile. I had lived with crooked, yellowed teeth for most of my adult life, and honestly, I just wanted to feel beautiful. I started thinking about working with a cosmetic dentist, and before I knew it, I was in an office getting a complimentary consultation. I learned about a variety of different procedures that could improve my look, and it was really fun. I wanted to create a blog all about making smiles more beautiful, which is why I made this website. Check out this blog for great information about dentistry.

3 Natural Ways To Whiten Teeth

It can be difficult to feel confident if the teeth in your mouth are discolored. Dental discoloration can result from eating foods that contain deep-colored pigments. However, it can also stem from drinking dark beverages, such as coffee or tea, or even from tobacco usage.

Once dental staining is in place, it can be difficult to remove using regular oral hygiene techniques, such as brushing with standard, fluoride toothpaste. Still, teeth whitening does not have to be costly or uncomfortable. Here are a few natural ways to brighten your teeth:

Peroxide and Baking Soda Paste

Baking soda and peroxide, when mixed together, form a teeth whitening paste. Baking soda, which is a white powder that is often used in baking, is alkaline in nature and possesses a mildly abrasive texture that polishes away dental discoloration.

Hydrogen peroxide, which is available over the counter in a solution of three percent, is a mild, oxygenating, bleaching agent. The peroxide, which can kill oral bacteria, also helps lighten dental stains.

Olive Oil

Olive oil can be used during a process called oil pulling to help remove oil-based stains from the teeth. In addition, the antibacterial properties of the oil can help improve oral health.

To oil pull with olive oil, place about a spoonful of the oil into your mouth and move it about as you would traditional mouthwash. It is best to leave the oil in the mouth for at least a few minutes, since the longer the oil is left in place, the more oral bacteria it is able to be trapped.

As the oil movies about the mouth, it traps oral bacteria that can cause tooth-darkening decay. In addition, the oil enters the pores of the teeth to help release stains.

Once you feel the need to spit, release the oil into a trash receptacle. You can then rinse your mouth thoroughly with water and brush your teeth in the normal manner.

It is best never to swallow the oil that is used for oil pulling, since it will contain thousands of microbes.

Turmeric

Turmeric can also be used to whiten teeth.  The spice can be applied to the bristles of a toothbrush and used as a whitening product. Although the turmeric is bright yellow in color, it can polish the tooth enamel to whiten it. Turmeric also possesses anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial qualities to help promote good oral health.
