Making Your Smile Gorgeous

A few years ago, I started thinking carefully about what I could do to improve my smile. I had lived with crooked, yellowed teeth for most of my adult life, and honestly, I just wanted to feel beautiful. I started thinking about working with a cosmetic dentist, and before I knew it, I was in an office getting a complimentary consultation. I learned about a variety of different procedures that could improve my look, and it was really fun. I wanted to create a blog all about making smiles more beautiful, which is why I made this website. Check out this blog for great information about dentistry.

3 Natural Ways To Keep Your Teeth Whiter After Professional Whitening

Making the decision to get your teeth professionally whitened is a great idea if you really want white teeth, but after spending a lot of money on this, you may want to do everything you can to keep your bright, white smile. You probably know that there are things to avoid that will help keep your teeth whiter, but you might not know about these three natural ways to keep a whiter smile.

Rub teeth with fruits

There are several types of fruits you can rub on your teeth that may actually help them stay whiter, including strawberries, bananas, and citrus fruits. Here are some ways you can use these fruits for this purpose:

  • Strawberries – Mash up a couple strawberries and rub them on your teeth. If possible, leave them on your teeth for three minutes. Strawberries contain malic acid, which is an ingredient known for whitening teeth.
  • Bananas – Before you throw away your next banana peel, you may want to keep it and use it for your teeth. Take the banana peel and rub it over your teeth for three minutes. Bananas contain magnesium and potassium, and both of these ingredients help keep enamel strong.
  • Lemons – Take a lemon peel and rub it directly on your teeth for two minutes. The acid in the lemon peel will remove stains from your teeth.

After using any of these methods, brush your teeth with toothpaste to remove all the acids. While acid can help clean the teeth, it can also be harmful if it is left on your teeth for too long.

Eat vegetables

Eating vegetables that are crunchy is another natural way to help keep your teeth white. You can eat carrots, celery, or crunchy broccoli to do this, and it works by removing plaque from the teeth. This occurs because these vegetables are hard, which makes them abrasive to the teeth. As you eat them, they will naturally clean your teeth.

Use coconut oil

Finally, you may want to try a method called oil pulling to naturally keep your teeth whiter, and you can do this with coconut oil. Coconut oil is natural and has antibacterial properties, and it also has a nice, light flavor.

To use this technique, place one teaspoon of coconut oil in your mouth. You can either rub it on your teeth, or you can swish it through your mouth. The goal is to do this for 20 minutes each morning, and always make sure you spit it out afterwards.  Once you are finished, brush your teeth with toothpaste to clean it out of your mouth.

By using these three methods, you can naturally keep your teeth whiter. If you are interested in getting professional teeth whitening services first, contact a cosmetic dentistry specialist and schedule an appointment.
